Things I return to.
Greek mythology, Latin, and the ancient stories I am learning to read more closely.
Greek Mythology
I am drawn to myths that turn human choices into stories larger than a lifetime.
A story I return to
Orpheus and Eurydice
After Eurydice dies, Orpheus follows her into the Underworld. His music moves Hades and Persephone, who allow her to return on one condition: he must not look back until they reach the world above. At the final threshold, doubt overcomes him. He turns, and Eurydice is lost a second time. The myth endures as a story about love, trust, art, and the limits of human certainty.
